SmartView Provides Fast & Flexible Reporting

Company
The SSI Group is leading the healthcare industry in claims management technology, EDI Platforms and networking. They provide a wide range of provider/payer/physician services and technologies for managing the revenue cycle.

Project Scope

Processing over 350 million transactions annually and relying on SmartList in Microsoft Dynamics GP as their reporting tool, The SSI Group, Inc. began to search for a solution that would provide flexible reporting. They found with SmartList that the reports were “antiquated and inflexible” and that most reports required “manual” work anyway – exporting to Excel to do totaling, subtotaling and adding more filters.  At a training class hosted by the eOne team, Jason Jones, Financial Analyst at SSI, found the solution.

“I was looking at many other tools to speed this process up but once I saw SmartView with its ability to add more than 4 filters, drag and drop columns, subtotaling and more, I knew it was exactly what we needed.”
Solution – Flexibility & Speed

Before SmartView, Jones and his team would “pull their hair out” trying to find reports and wait for SmartList to load. “Once SmartView came in we started seeing thousands of records in just a second or less, whereas with SmartList we would wait for a long time and sometimes wouldn’t even get any results back!” Continuing, Jones shared: “SmartView is very straightforward and intuitive. You just look at the guide and you’re done.”

When asked about recommending SmartView, Jones' boldly claims "you would be stupid not to have it!" explaining that: "just the flexibility of it gives you the information that SmartList does not give you. It makes it faster, easier and you can drill it down to exactly what you need, right there insite the tool!"

Tech Tuesday: Extender 2013 - New Actions

What are Actions?
Extender Actions allow a window or form to perform specific actions based on user input.  Actions were previously available in the Microsoft release of Extender 2010.  The options available were Disable Field, Enable Field, and Run Template. These options will still be available in Extender 2013.

What are the New Actions?
Additional Actions have been added to extend and replace the existing Logic feature in the Extender Enterprise.  While you can still add your own coding scenarios using the Actions, there are some available to replace the common coding scenarios.

Besides the Disable Field, Enable Field and Run Template Actions that were already mentioned, the following action will also be available in Extender Enterprise 2013.  The Actions may differ depending on if you call them from a Form, Window, or the Shared Actions.

Clear Field Values
Set Field Value
Open Extender Form
Close Extender Form
Open Application
Display Dialog
Run Macro
Run SQL Script
Run Dynamics GP Script
Run Shared Action
Run Event

Conditions can also be setup for each Action, defining when that action should be executed.
More action types will be added in later versions, including on to run SmartConnect maps.

SmartView Release 2013

Hot on the heels of Extender standard 2013 - we are pleased to release SmartView 2013.  This is a very simple upgrade from previous releases with limited functional changes.

SmartView Stand Alone will be coming in the next few weeks also.

We have some pretty big plans for SmartView in 2013 so stand by for some great new functionality.

Extender Delivered

It has been a marathon effort from the team at eOne to get this Extender 2013 release to market. You can now download Extender (formerly known as Microsoft Dynamics GP Extender) from the eOne website. http://www.eonesolutions.com.au/Products/Extender/Downloads.aspx.  Thanks to everyone for the patience and for holding off upgrades where necessary.

Now that we truly have our hands back on Extender, we took this chance to do a number of things:
  1. Merge Extender Standard and Extender enterprise into a single dictionary and code set
  2.  Reg keys will determine the functionality available to the users
  3. Debranded form previous version
  4. Make major enhancements to the eXtender code - Check out our feature of the day articles in this blog
  5. Changed the links to SmartList from being inside SLB to being inside Extender
  6. Changed the table structure behind eXtender to make it work significantly faster.
It has been a major release, and we are really excited about delivering this to our customers. Please do read the release instructions and manual carefully before upgrading to ensure you follow procedure.

There is no time to relax though as we are now pushing forward with our eXtender Enterprise release - which will be available in 3-4 weeks from now.

Extender 2013 Feature of the Day: Lists/Note Types

What has changed?

When setting up a list field, you can now enter in the list items all in one window.  You can separate each list item with a comma or carriage return.

When selecting to add new items to the list, you will see the following window where you can type in the list of items to add or cut and paste the list of items from another source such as Excel.  The Add Note Types window looks and works the same as the Add List Items window.

Copying a list is as easy as copying the data you want to make a part of the list and then pasting it in the Add List Items window.

When you then Add those items, the values are parsed into a list of items.

New Quote feature on the eOne Site!

Have you heard about the new feature on our website that allows you to create quotes for products and services? Prior to this week, you could only auto-generate a quote for renewals. With so many requests for product and service quotes however, we decided to make things much easier for you. All you need to do is:

1. Login to our website if you’re a partner. If you’re not, that’s ok, direct customers can skip this part and still generate a quote.
2. Click on “eOne Shop.”
3. Add the products, services, and support packages to your cart that you’d like.
4. Click “Go to Checkout.”
5. Review the items in your cart and click “Get Quote” at the bottom.

That’s all there is to it! In less time than it takes to email in your request, you can have a quote in your hands and off to the customer.
A few things to remember when you generate quotes on your own:
1. eOne quotes are valid for 30 days from the date on the quote.
2. Don’t forget to include support, services, and/or training on your quote. The product and maintenance purchases do notinclude those items!
3. If you have questions or need helping deciding what to include on your quote - we’re here to help – give us a call!

Do you like the new site? Has it made your life easier? I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to drop me a line: abbey.cooper@eonesolutions.com.

Extender 2013 Feature of the Day: Add Field / Add Calculation

What has changed in the way that Fields and Calculations are done?

In Extender 2013, you will be able to set all the Field and Calculation options at once.  To create a field, you will just need to select the field position and then select the Add Field or Add Calc button.
Within those windows, you will be able to enter the Field Name as well as setup the type and any additional setup that is available for that type such as the decimal places, list entries, and calculations.

Below is what the Add Field window will look like in Extender 2013.
Below is the window you will receive when you click the Add Calc button. The setup in the Add Calculated Field window has not changed between Extender 2010 and 2013.
